The Inside-Out Diet is a weight loss plan, complete with delicious recipes, that includes specific fruits and vegetables, in amounts designed to boost liver function, decrease body fat, fight inflammation, build collagen, improve insulin sensitivity, and lower bad cholesterol.

The meal plan includes recipes specifically created for this diet by Sabra Ricci, a Maui-based healthy chef to the celebrities. It includes foods that give the liver the nutrients it needs to detoxify and excrete unwanted chemicals.

There is a recipe for my Cleansing Lemon Tea, designed to help you detoxify, replenish, and rejuvenate all at the same time. There are many other herbs and spices that help the liver and boost flavor, such as rosemary, cardamom, turmeric, and cilantro. The cilantro pesto recipe in this book is popular, and all the ingredients in it help us remove toxins, such as mercury.

You’ll also enjoy the organic chicken, lamb, turkey, beef, and other high-quality sources of protein, which provide the amino acids needed by the liver to detoxify. Neither too much nor too little protein is good, and this diet gives you the optimum amount so that your liver can efficiently eliminate the stored toxins and fats. Protein, which is often lacking in detoxifying diets, is also needed to combat stress fat. That’s why you’ll find recipes such as Chicken Cacciatore, Maui-terranian Salad with Grilled Chicken, Thai Coconut Tempeh, and Grilled Beef Tenderloin Salad.

The colon-cleansing foods ensure that the unwanted waste that the liver discards doesn’t get reabsorbed by the body. They include apples, flaxseeds, and other superfoods that are naturally high in soluble fiber so will bind toxins and excess cholesterol. The diet also includes the right amount of essential fatty acids, low-glycemic foods, and other foods that decrease inflammation, restore insulin sensitivity and suppress appetite and boost metabolism via a hormone called leptin.

Because the greater the amount of toxins in the body, the greater the demand on the liver, this diet also works at reducing toxins produced in our bodies from food intolerances and the overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria and yeast.
